FAQs

Here are some common questions about therapy, pricing, and what to expect in sessions.

What can I expect during my first therapy session?

Your first session is a no-pressure opportunity for us to get to know each other. We’ll talk about what brought you to therapy, your goals, and how I can support you. You’re welcome to share as much or as little as you’re comfortable with.

How do I know if therapy is right for me?

If you’re feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or simply want to grow, therapy can help. You don’t need to have all the answers before starting—taking the first step is all that matters.

How long will I need therapy?

The length of therapy depends on your goals and needs. Some people find clarity in a few sessions, while others engage in deeper, ongoing work. We’ll check in regularly to make sure therapy feels helpful and aligned with your progress.

What is EMDR, and how does it work?

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a research-backed approach that helps reprocess distressing memories. By using techniques like guided eye movements, it reduces the emotional intensity tied to past experiences, helping you feel more at peace.

How does Emotionally Focused Therapy help couples?

Session frequency can vary based on individual needs and goals. Typically, clients meet weekly or bi-weekly to maintain progress. We can adjust the schedule as needed to suit your journey.

Do you take insurance?

I can provide you with a superbill to submit to your insurance for possible reimbursement. Be sure to check your out-of-network benefits with your provider.

Is therapy confidential?

Yes, therapy is a safe and confidential space. What you share stays private, with the exception of rare circumstances where safety is a concern. I’m happy to explain more if you have questions about confidentiality.

Do you integrate faith into therapy?

If you’d like, we can incorporate Christian principles, prayer, or scripture into our work together. Whether you want a faith-based focus or a more neutral approach, I’ll honor your preferences.

Is seeking therapy a sign of weak faith?

Not at all! Therapy isn’t about a lack of faith—it’s about stewarding the emotional and mental health God has entrusted to you. Sometimes, healing involves both prayer and practical tools, and therapy can be a way to experience God’s grace and growth.

Can I still come to therapy if I’m not religious or Christian?

Yes! While I’m happy to offer a faith-based approach, I also work with clients from all backgrounds and beliefs. My goal is to provide a space where you feel understood, supported, and empowered—no matter where you’re coming from.
